Ossani's Escape

Very pleased to receive an email tonight confirming that one of my sword and sorcery stories has just been accepted for publication in a well known magazine. The story's called "Ossani's Escape" and involves a recurring character who first appeared in "The Storyteller of Koss" (Summer of Sci-Fi and Fantasy Volume 1) and in "Ossani the Healer and the Beautiful Homunculus" (Welgar the Cursed).

I have written several more stories about this healer-cum-sorcerer whose eyesight is so weak he wears a special ocular of his own design which holds a variety of different lenses.

More details later.

Nadrain the Storyteller

One of my recurring sword and sorcery characters is Nadrain the Storyteller, who sometimes narrates his own adventures (which he hates having) and of people he meets, which enable me to write in the first person for a change.

Nadrain's own adventures feature in The Storyteller of Koss (Summer of Sci-Fi & Fantasy 1, 2022 and Schlock! Webzine, October, 2024) and in The Dark Priestdom (Savage Realms Monthly #19, 2023 and in the next few weeks in the collection Welgar the Cursed, Tule Fog Press).
Additionally, he has retold the tales of the unfortunate snake charmer from In the Temple of the Snake (Crimson Quill Quarterly #3, 2024) and of the artist Essayan in Essayan's Terrible Machineries of War (Crimson Quill Quarterly #5, 2025).
I have also used quotes from him at the start of several stories involving Welgar so as to set the scene and provide a few background details.

Baal the Necromancer is reprinted in Schlock! Webzine

First published in Mythic magazine #17 in 2021, my sword and sorcery story Baal the Necromancer has just been reprinted in the December. 2024 issue of Schlock! Webzine. I did write a sequel of sorts to this, The Storyteller of Koss which was first published in Summer of Sci-Fi and Fantasy in 2022 and again reprinted in Schlock! Webzine in its October 2024 issue.

The Storyteller of Koss published in Summer of Sci-Fi & Fantasy

My swords and sorcery fantasy story The Storyteller of Koss has just been published in Summer of Sci-Fi & Fantasy edited by Dustin Bilyk in the States, though it is also available from amazon uk.

My story follows on from events told in my previously published tale Baal the Necromancer (Mythic #17, 2021). I am in the process of finishing another, quite long story called The Dark Priestdom in which the storyteller is again one of the two main characters. The other protagonist, a mercenary called Welgar, also appeared in a recent story Ossani the Healer & the Beautiful Homunculus, which has yet to be published.

Just to add to the complications (and perhaps to the confusion!) Ossani the Healer appears towards the end of The Storyteller of Koss

The Storyteller of Koss has been accepted for publication in Summer of Sci-fi & Fantasy anthology

Just had another fantasy story - it's not quite swords & sorcery as there are no swords involved - accepted for publication next year. The Storyteller of Koss will appear in Summer of Sci-fi & Fantasy anthology, due on June 1st, 2022 from Cloaked Press in the United States.
The Storyteller of Koss is a sort of sequel to Baal the Necromancer which appeared in the last issue of Mythic magazine.
